I have not wore this hiking but purchased it to wear with the rain coat in the same fabric. Although not intents as a rain hat the large brim did. A great job keeping my face dry and would do the same for the sun. I recommend.

I have a larger head so I was worried about the one size, but it fit very well - not tight but not loose. If you have a smaller head you may find it looser than.
