Kanuk Hugo Down Insulation Jacket - Men's

This jacket is very warm and light. It offers a nice fit (modern cut). My only concern is that the polyester shell seems a little bit fragile. Great for an urban use; not recommended for outdoor use where tree branches may tear the fabric.

I bought this coat as the Kanuk brand is supposed to be a good quality one. The coat is warm and the pocket lining is great, but it has already been losing a considerable amount of down insulation, and the textile is easily rippable

First off, jacket is NOT made in Canada. It is 'designed' in Canada made in China. It is kind of short in body and sleeves, so a bit boxy overall.
On the good side it is very puffy and felt warm. Great front pocket as well. This would be good in the city, but def not a jacket for outdoor activities.

the bomber fit looks good, i like the snug fit around the body. warm and cozy. but the overall stitching quality is not perfect. plain and simple interior fabric that doesn't feel premium

I think that most locals (i. e, Quebeckers) are still under this impression. That said, this jacket is made in China, not in Montréal (as I found out after I received the jacket). In fact, Kanuk itself no longer explicitly claims that all its jackets are manufactered here in Québec, while by the same token voluntarily maintaining some confusion as to the country or countries of manufacture. In answer to the straigthforward FAQ "Where are Kanuk coats made?", Kanuk fails on its company website to provide a straightforward answer: "We are a proud Quebec company and consider our roots as an integral part of everything we do. We are pleased to say that our coats are designed in our Montreal workshop. " Indeed, "designed" in Montréal doesn't mean "made" in Montréal (but the initial FAQ was: "Where are Kanuk coats made?", not where they are designed) So, if your thinking about buying locally. . . think again before buying a Kanuk jacket.
