We liked this repair method so much for Exped's in-house repairs, we had to make it available for everyone! Using UV-curing glue with the included UV-light, punctures or damage can be repaired in seconds! Use the included alcohol wipes to clean the damaged area prior to repair and finish the repair using the abrasion-resistant TPU repair patches. We purchased a new Megamat Duo and on its third day in use, one of the toddlers punctured the surface with a dinosaur toy. Yes, a dinosaur toy was left in an unsupervised tent for about 3 minutes, for shame. After some asking around we were told to get the Exped repair kit rather than use the custom kit we pieced together from Thermarest and McNett stuff - which by the way has worked well on a few mattresses over the years. 

When you reach the point where you&#x27;re willing to spend $500 on a mattress for camping up to maybe 20 nights a year, you lose what little judgement and restraint you had left when it comes to repair kits for said mattress. Having paid for the premium kit and now having used it, I have to say I don&#x27;t see the value over stuff we already had on hand.

I can&#x27;t imagine the cement being significantly different than in a Thermarest or McNett kit, so it would seem you&#x27;re paying effectively $20 for the little UV lamp. Having used all three cements to date, it seems this is the case. They all have very similar viscosity, odour and natural cure times. In the Exped variant, there are some small TPU self-adhesive patches (which thankfully work on our small 5mm puncture), whereas the $20 Thermarest permanent home repair kit comes with 3 large textile patches that can be cut to size, and a tiny micro tongue depressor applicator stick. 

As it happens, since the mattress deflated at the beginning of an 11 night trip, and we had cold feet about just using the repair materials we had on hand - we slept on the damaged mattress for a week and only made the repair at home once we bought the Exped kit. 

Importantly and paradoxically, we slept not too shabbily on that punctured Megamt given the amount of foam packed inside...

Not sure about the price...

Quick and effective fix for my Exped mat. Had small punctures which where quickly remedied with the files repair kit. Used left over glue to patch tear in my Helly Hansen Jacket.
